On the convergence of the method for indefinite integration of oscillatory and singular functions
We consider the problem of convergence and error estimation of the method for computing indefinite integrals proposed in [P. Keller, A method for indefinite integration of oscillatory and singular functions, Numerical Algorithms 46(3) (2007), 219–251]. To this end, we have analysed the properties of the difference operator related to the difference equation for the Chebyshev coefficients of a f...
متن کاملNumerical indefinite integration of functions with singularities
We derive an indefinite quadrature formula, based on a theorem of Ganelius, for Hp functions, for p > 1, over the interval (−1, 1). The main factor in the error of our indefinite quadrature formula is O(e−π √ ), with 2N nodes and 1 p + 1 q = 1. The convergence rate of our formula is better than that of the Stenger-type formulas by a factor of √ 2 in the constant of the exponential. We conjectur...
متن کاملFast integration of rapidly oscillatory functions
A collocation method for approximating integrals of rapidly oscillatory functions is presented. The method is efficient for integrals involving Bessel functions Jv(rx) with large oscillation parameter r, as well as for many other oneand multi-dimensional integrals of functions with rapid irregular oscillations.
متن کاملRevisiting numeric/symbolic indefinite integration of rational functions, and extensions
We know we can solve this problem: Given any rational function f(x) = p(x)/q(x), where p and q are univariate polynomials over the rationals, compute its indefinite integral, using if necessary, algebraic numbers. But in many circumstances an approximate result is more likely to be of use. Furthermore, it is plausible that it would be more useful to solve the problem to allow definite integrati...
متن کاملIntegration of Highly Oscillatory Problems Through G-Functions
Perturbed harmonic oscillators describe many models in physics and engineering. A method for solving this type of problem is based on the utilization of Scheifele’s functions, consisting of a refinement of the Taylor series method. One disadvantage of the method is that it is difficult to determine, in each case, the recurrence relations necessary for arriving to the solutions. In this paper we...
